To really understand how emotional anything to do with “Sam” is you need to know her story. Samantha accepted us into her family in the fall of 2001 when we decided to purchase the home where Samantha had spent her whole life. She was almost five years old. At the time the previous owner asked us if we would be interested in keeping her, because he was not going to take her with him. His comment was, “If you don’t take her then I’ll just put a bullet in her head.” From just that comment he made, you can imagine the kind of life Samantha had had. I used to pass by the house we purchased every day when I went back and forth to work. The first time I saw Samantha she was sitting in the middle of the road in the dead of winter. I stopped the car and told her she should get out of the road so she wouldn’t get hit by a car. She just looked at me as to say, you get out of my road. She was the neighborhood vagabond. One neighbor had found her in their basement one morning after a very bad thunder and lightening storm. One neighbor had food and treats but didn’t have a dog, because Samantha spent so much time at their house. She would take a walk with that neighbor every morning and on several occasions had protected him from other dogs. She had many issues to over come. She had food aggressions, did not like children at all, had never seen a dog brush, had only been to the vets when it was absolutely necessary, etc. But over time, when she received the love and attention she was so longing for she turned into a dog that loved people. Every one that had known her previously could not believe she was the same dog. When my husband ruptured his vertebrae and fell in the yard, she wedged her body under his arm to try to help him up. When she couldn’t she laid with him until help arrived. When he came home after having two back surgeries within two weeks, she wouldn’t leave his side. Samantha was extremely protective of my husband and I. Before my husband got hurt, he traveled a lot. I always felt safe with her. She was the kind of dog that would have protected me if it had meant dyeing for me. When Samantha was between the ages of eight and nine she developed pancreatitis. We almost lost her on more than one occasion. But with a regiment of the right medicines and food, she was able to live comfortably for a couple years. It was very costly and most people thought we were crazy to spend the money and time it took to fight the disease. But those were the people that don’t understand. We didn’t own Samantha. She was a gift from God. She and most animals can teach humans about unconditional love. Samantha did. It has been two years since she passed away and not a day goes by that I don’t think of her.  The stone is beautiful and it is the centerpiece of Samantha’s rose garden. When I saw the stone that we purchased on the website I fell in love with it. It had a Rottweiler on it. Samantha was ¾ Rottweiler. The detail was perfect. It arrived in less than a week. “PERFECT”. Jacqueline March 2009 Yesterday, our family received the urn for Kali. The photo we sent truly depicted who she was in life. I selected that photo because for us taken the day before her peaceful journey to the bridge, demonstrated the full circle she had come. I was emailed about the photo as it had background that I really did not want in the photo and there was a question about that. I really only wanted her on the Urn. It was not what I expected to see when I opened the box at all. What I found was Kali exactly as in the photo but closer and her face covers much of the top. The detail was amazing and when I looked at it, I had the sense that  we had brought her full circle in life and smiled knowing that who she really was had been so carefully etched with every detail of her face. This was so important to us. Kali came to us as an abused Rottweiler. She was 2 to 3 years old then. Weighing 38 pounds. She had no reason to trust man at all anymore. Through her we learned how to build trust and she in her life with us over the years proved to us that although she had an extremely painful beginning, she was true to her breed. I do not know who etched her photo , but you captured her spirit and for that my family is humbled and awed by your detail and attention in your etching.  Thank you for all you have done. Everything she did, she did with great (!!) gusto, whether it was play, love or banging the blinds in the early morning to get me up (you try to discipline and all she'd do as stop, turn and look at you, then continue knowing you could never catch her). Her brother is still here, he's always been the strong, quiet, low-key one and she got all the chutzpa in that family. Anyway, today I got the river rock memorial and it is so very perfect that there could be no improvement! It will rest next to her beloved catnip plant (or bed at times) out in the garden. My husband & I lost our baby in Nov 08, and my friend sent us one of your lovely bluestone memorials. It had a picture of a Sheltie face along with his name and the inscription "Always in our Hearts." While it did make my cry, it's such a wonderful way to honor our boy who truly is always in our hearts. He was so special to us and gave us so much joy for many years, and we'll proudly display the bluestone memorial to honor him and show our love for him. We also really appreciated the beautiful "Rainbow Bridge" letter that we received a couple days later personalized with Walker's name as well. It too made me cry, but it was very comforting at the same time. I didn't even know that you could order such nice memorials for your beloved furry friends, so thank you so much for having such a special and loving company. I knew this was getting up against your Christmas deadline and yet he was very patient and helpful. Receiving the memorial before Christmas allowed our three children (home from college and work) to join my wife and me as we laid our cat to rest. We lost our cat, Feedle on Dec. 7, and knowing that we would get a "headstone" for her, made burying her easier. We had found you when we lost our cat, Mokey, and there is no way to tell you how much it meant to us to have a marker on his grave. We also put a stone on my daughter's Beta fish grave, because she was inconsolable until the little fish was in his grave and properly marked. We put Feedle's stone out yesterday. We are going on vacation soon and it's easier to leave knowing we did everything possible to show our love for her.
